Part-time faculty

 



Part-time faculty members apply each semester for the posted courses for which they are qualified and are interested in teaching.  Teaching assignments are given to regular part-time CUPFA members based on seniority credits, work experience in the field, academic and/or professional background, course preferences, awards or honors received and course evaluations.  For more information, please see Article 10 of the CUPFA collective agreement.

Teaching limits for part-time faculty in an academic year (CUPFA 9.02):

  1. ninety (90) credits or more of seniority may teach up to eighteen (18) credits per academic year.
  2. twenty-four (24) credits or more of seniority but fewer than ninety (90) credits of seniority may teach up to twelve (12) credits per academic year.
  3. less than twenty-four (24) credits of seniority, individuals who have lost their previously accrued seniority*, and new hires may teach a total of six (6) credits per academic year.

* Part-time faculty members who are absent from the University for more than thirty-two (32) months will have their name removed from the Seniority List (CUPFA 8.03).
