Independent Students

Undergraduate independent students may take a maximum of three courses (9 credits) per term, provided there is available space in the courses selected and that individual course prerequisites have been satisfied. Please note that we cannot guarantee seats in any of our Engineering and Computer Science courses. Procedures and deadlines for enrolling at Concordia University as an Independent Student are available online at the Independent Students Office, or through the Birks Student Service Centre (SGW Campus, 1400 de Maisonneuve Blvd. West, room LB 185).


Graduate independent students may take a maximum of two courses (8 credits) per term, provided there is available space in the courses selected and that individual course prerequisites have been satisfied. Please note that we cannot guarantee seats in any of our Engineering and Computer Science courses. Procedures and deadlines for enrolling at Concordia University as an Graduate Independent Student are available online at the School of Graduate Studies Website.

To evaluate your request, please send us the following information:

  1. Transcript from your school indicating that you have completed a Bachelor's of Engineering or Computer Science;
  2. Certificate of Degree;
  3. A complete Application to Register as a Non Degree Student;
  4. Proof of Status: A copy of the first 2 pages of your passport or, Permanent Resident Card or Canadian Citizenship Card (both sides) or, current immigration document confirming your landing status, valid study or work permit.
