Catherine Mulligan

As Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Mulligan is responsible for the development and management of the graduate student support program (GSSP), new Ph.D Special Scholarship program, and other research support initiatives. She handles the approval of grades, grade changes, external Ph.D. examiners, Ph.D. proposals, examinations and comprehensive examination submissions, as well as the approval of grant proposal and contract submissions, appointment of research personnel, payroll contracts and time sheets for research personnel. Part of Dr. Mulligan's duties are to organize research grant information sessions and coordinate graduate admission procedures. Dr. Mulligan chairs the Committee for the ENCS evaluation of internal competitions of Seed, PetroCanada Young Innovator Award, University Research Award (URA), Aid to Research Related Events, and Facility Optimization grants, as well as the committee for the determination of ENCS graduate scholarships and awards. She assists in all procedures related to Canada Research Chairs, CURCs and Industrial Research Chairs. She also plans and manages graduate curricula at the Faculty (ECSGSC), Graduate Curriculum Committee and Council of the School of Graduate Studies levels, and develops international agreement policies, and student exchanges. Dr. Mulligan Liaises with the School of Graduate Studies, Office of Research, the VPRGS, associate deans from other faculties, industry, graduate student associations, industry, and external research and funding agencies.
