How to Map a Network Drive

If you are connected to the Concordia Network, AITS has developped a script which can be used to map all ENCS network drives.

Unfortunately, Windows XP is no longer supported. If the hardware supports it, Windows XP systems need to be upgraded to Windows 7. If the hardware does not support the new OS, then a system update is required.

Map a network drive using a script:

Windows 7:

  • Download Map ENCS Drives Version 2.1, dated December 2, 2015. This new version will work with ENCS\<username> Active Directory Authentification. Please remove any previous version and use this one.
  • To remove the previous version, go to:
    • Control Panel → All Control Panel Items → Programs and Features → ENCSMap (Uninstall).

Mac OS X 10.8 and before:

  • Download the compressed MAC Application ENCS Map Version 2.0 September 10th, 2013. Uncompress it on the desktop to recreate the Application ENCS_Map.

Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks):

  • Download the compressed MAC Application ENCS Map Version 3.0 November 18th, 2013. Uncompress it on the desktop to recreate the Application ENCS_Map.

Any problems should be reported to servicedesk@encs.concordia.ca. Please include screen captures, if you can.

  6. Click Finish to connect the drive.
  7. You will be prompted for a username and password. Supply ENCS\< username> and password.

The following table lists the shares you can currently map:

Drive Letter Mount Point Description
G: \\filer-users.encs.concordia.ca\<encs_username> Windows home directory
H: \\filer-nettemp.encs.concordia.ca\nettemp Temporary disk space. All files in here are deleted automatically every morning
Q: \\filer-admin.encs.concordia.ca\v_admin\admin_unix Administrative Groups
R: \\filer-facdisk.encs.concordia.ca\fac_<FL*>\<encs_username> Private disk space
S: \\filer-groups.encs.concordia.ca\v_groups\groups_unix Home directories for group accounts
U: \\filer-users.encs.concordia.ca\unix\<FL*>\<encs_username> Unix home directory
W: \\filer-users.encs.concordia.ca\web\<FL*>\<encs_username> Web directory
X: \\filer-groups.encs.concordia.ca\v_groups\groups_web Web directories for group accounts
T: \\filer-thesis.encs.concordia.ca\v_thesis\thesis_unix Graduate thesis directory

FL* - This is the First Letter of your ENCS username.

For example, if your username is foobar, you would map the U: drive as:

\\filer-users.encs.concordia.ca\unix\f\foobar
